Hero and Zero of the Week

This Week’s Hero Is…

…those hardy soles that turned out yesterday to protest in defence of the wonders of capitalism. YBF graduate Nic Conner takes up the story on the Conservative Future website, here.

This Week’s Zero Is…

…Dan McCurry, who writes on LabourList. In a recent article, McCurry says that the Union Flag needs to be reclaimed from the “far right” in order to become a symbol of true national pride. I couldn’t agree more. However, McCurry’s proposed method is absurd: “We will need the white population of this country to avoid waving the flag for those six months, while the black and ethnic minority communities must fly it every day.” It’s impossible to think of a more divisive thing to do with our national flag. I support McCurry’s desire to be proud of our flag, but his method is madness.

In today’s hectic multimedia age, it is easy only to spend time reading blogs, websites or newspapers with whom you are in agreement. That is a very dangerous course for the conservative activist to take. It is imperative to be as well read as possible – not just so that you know what your opponents [...]

  • Week Thirteen: Ask Questions

One of the wisest pieces of advice I have heard handed out to students comes from Patrick Coyle, the Vice-President of the Young America’s Foundation. Pat reminds student activists that while it is all well and good having views as to who should be the Republican Party’s nominee or what the basic rate of income [...]
