Friday, September 11th, 2009

Untitled2Every year YBF’s sister organisation, the Young America’s Foundation, helps students across the USA properly remember the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks through their 9/11: Never Forget Project. The programme began in 2003 when they discovered that most college campuses ignored the anniversary or instead scheduled another activity instead.

Now each year campuses across the USA create an American flag memorial consisting of 2,977 American flags representing each person tragically killed in the attacks. At 9:11am a school-wide moment of silence or prayer is also held on each campus.University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

This year over 200 campuses are participating in the 9/11: Never Forget Project, making it the largest student activist initiative on September 11.

The video below shows one of the projects that previously took place at Pepperdine University. As well as the flag memorial there was also a motorcycle rally to raise money. The ride took place between the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Pepperdine University.
