US Summer Conferences (July/August)

UPDATE: 2012 US SUMMER PROGRAMME DETAILS RELEASED…

The Reagan-Thatcher US Summer Conference Programme is the flagship series of international conferences made available to British conservative activists.

Thanks to the generosity of the supporters of the Young Britons’ Foundation, substantial subsidies are provided to cover conference fees, accommodation, meals and course materials, as well as a contribution being made towards airfares.

Staying at Marymount University, with direct access to Ballston Metro station, students have a chance to:

  • visit the White House and the US Supreme Court
  • receive a guided nighttime tour of the National Mall (taking in the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Reflecting Pool and memorials to the fallen of World War II, Vietnam and the Korean War)
  • experience American culture by going to see a Washington Nationals baseball match, attend a cigar reception hosted by YBF supporters, go shooting, drink and smoke indoors and eat too much
  • visit George Washington’s Mount Vernon
  • receive a private tour of Congress
  • undergo day-long interactive public speaking and media training workshops led by a former speechwriter to the Reagan & Bush Administrations and a media coach to current and former Presidential candidates
  • hear from scholars at the Heritage Foundation, Cato Institute, Competitive Enterprise Institute, Leadership Institute, America’s Future Foundation, Media Research Center and Campaigns & Elections magazine.

In week two, students move to George Washington University in Washington DC itself. They will then have the opportunity to network with hundreds of college students from across the United States and to hear from leading conservative speakers such as Newt Gingrich, Fred Barnes, Michael Reagan and George Allen at the Young America’s Foundation National Conservative Student Conference.

Students also have the opportunity to attend the Foundation for Economic Education Freedom University in New York at which they learn the fundamentals of free-market economics and the central tenets of the free society.

Places are strictly limited. Preference is given to those who have attended a previous YBF Activist Training Conference and/or the YBF Parliamentary Rally.
